The purpose of the Task is to provide comprehensive insights and strategies regarding the optimal utilization of photoreactors under real sunlight for the production of green fuels and chemicals. The focus is on providing technological options to enhance efficiency in harnessing solar energy by combining the latest developments on materials, reactor design, and system integration.

The main Task objective is to foster the research and development of photo-reactors that are driven by real sunlight. The Task will address technologies that use solar radiation to produce fuels and chemicals in photocatalytic, photo-electrochemical, and photothermal processes. For these technologies, the Task “Solar photoreactors for the production of fuels and chemicals” seeks to bring together international experts on photo-active materials, photo-reactor and collector design, as well as experts on system integration to work on the design of materials, reactors and systems, as well as on standardized testing and evaluation protocols to finally pave the way for future solar photo reactors as new market segments for the solar thermal industry.
